Welcome to Red Stripe: "The Potters On-line"
Red Stripe,
The Potters On-line: Welcome to redstripe.com,
an on-line site for supporters of one of the oldest football clubs
in history, Stoke City FC. Formed in 1863, Stoke City entered
the Football League in 1888 and played at the famous Victoria Ground
for nearly 120 years, only leaving in 1997 for their new home, the
magnificent Britannia Stadium.
Stoke’s nickname,
“The Potters” reflects the local industry, pottery and ceramics,
which still continues in the area although not to the extent of
the industries former glories.
Past Stoke greats
include the legendary Sir Stan Matthews, Geoff Hurst, Gordon Banks,
Jimmy Greenhoff and Peter Shilton to name but a few.
Currently Stoke
City play in the English Coca-Cola Football League Championship
following promotion from the (old) Second Division in 2002.
Good luck to the
Potters for the 2007/2008 season.
